Currently, smog is the only topic that has not been politicized as towhether Nawaz Sharif or Imran Khan is responsible for it. The reason for this is the People’s Party or the Tehreek-e-Insaf? The truth is that we are all responsible for smog. All of our stoves, our motorcycles and cars, the smoke from crop fires, waste from industry and kilns and the terrible smoke and above all our decades of carelessness are the real causes. From which slowly this monster has come and captured us all.

The greatest Mughal king of India was Jalaluddin Akbar, whose kingdom borders extended from Nepal to Central Asia. At that time, the capital was Fatehpur Sikri, but Akbar along with his harem lived in Lahore for about sixteen years (1582 to 1598). Lived. In Fatehpur Sikri the water was scarce and bad, in Lahore there was plenty of water and it was clean and sweet, the climate was also clean. There were gardens in the city and forests around Lahore. Akbar’s son Prince Salim, who later ascended the throne as Jahangir, was very fond of the deer “Mans Raj” of the Sheikhupura forest, and even today this love of Sheikho is alive and well in the form of the Deer Minar. At that time, there were forests around Lahore in which deer and other animals were found, hunting of tigers is also mentioned in historical records. In the Mughal era, a fire broke out in the Shahi Fort of Lahore during a colorful ceremony of the Haram, and the gold stored there also came under fire. It is written in history that the people of Lahore collected gold particles from the drains as if the drainage system was so good that the particles continued to flow far away.

This is a mention of the sixteenth century and today the modern Punjab and Lahore of the 21st century are engulfed in smog, fog, environmental pollution and dengue. Here, the nursery garden has also ended. The result of our shortcomings and mistakes was bound to come out sometime and now it has come to the fore. There was a terrible smog attack in the UK city of London in 1952, hundreds of deaths were caused, then in 1956, Clean Air legislation was passed and now there is no danger of smog in London, there are gardens and parks in cities like London. After the legislation of Great Britain, strict laws regarding clean air and transparent environment were made in America, Australia and many other countries and this greatly improved the environment. We should immediately enact similar legislation and start implementing it. Smog is not a problem that will be avoided in a couple of years, it will take time and a lot of effort to eliminate it. Now, the young owner of the university, Ibrahim Murad, has suggested that even and odd days should be fixed for vehicles like in Tehran. Special facilities should be provided for electric vehicles, industries and kilns should be moved away from the city and it should be made mandatory to install machinery for cleaning the smoke emitted from them, trees and parks should be doubled, penalties should be imposed for burning crop residues and farmers should be taught alternative methods of crop residue disposal.

During the caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s tenure, schools were closed, strict measures were taken regarding destruction of brick kilns and crop residues, vehicles were also stopped for two or three days, even artificial rain was made, but ultimately the result was disastrous. He turned out to be a three-legged man. The government came to the conclusion that more environmental research is needed and the research so far is neither complete nor accurate. If one does not know the real cause of smog, then what will be the remedy for it? If we turn the pages of history, many centuries ago, foreign tourists and invaders who came to this region in the same season of winter, wrote that From Multan to Delhi it was dark even during the day, a thin layer of fog covered even when there was no POLLUTION. There is a need to invite experts from all over the world to conduct a thorough research first, then to enact legislation and then implement it effectively.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is very conscious about the environment and culture, Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb has received education in environment from Birr Malik and she has also worked in NGOs related to environment and wildlife for a long time. Now it is a test for both of them to find a solution to the smog crisis as a golden opportunity, which may be the thing that will make them big in politics. Often leaders are raised in crises, those who emerge from crisis become beloved leaders forever. The opposition should be included in whatever laws are made regarding the environment. Civil society experts should be consulted, legislation should be supported by all parties and made uncontroversial. The real test of any ruler’s governance is in crisis and war. Shahbaz Sharif has gone to the federal government and has become immobile like a stone. As an example of “Zamin Junbad, Nah Junbad Gul Muhammad”, he is not making big decisions, so this contemptible columnist also takes his news, but when the dengue crisis came, Shahbaz Sharif devoted himself day and night as the Chief Minister. After dark, the meeting was called, the team checked every house to see if the water tap was flowing, they called a team from Sri Lanka and made a plan to prevent dengue. In this case, those men proved to be a crisis and they finally bit the teeth of dengue. Their measures have been so effective and long-lasting that even now the dengue team is still occasionally doing house-to-house checks. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz should include smog in her priority list as soon as she returns to Pakistan, focus on it day and night, if smog-related deaths start tomorrow in Punjab like London, then her governance will be challenged. will Although they have taken many measures to eliminate smog, they are insufficient and these measures have not reduced the smog at present. This blood-sucking is not going to be avoided by mere statements, it will have to be defeated by a two-faced battle. If Maryam Nawaz becomes the leader of this war, not only will she defeat Smog, but it may be the only solution to humiliate her political opponents.
