We, the people of Kondistan, are also strange people who neither give a chance to democracy nor like martial law. We do not live within our limits in a hybrid system and thus are never able to steer the system in a clear direction. The country currently has a constitutional government, the Supreme Court. The courts may have made most of the decisions against the PTI, but many decisions have also been in favor of the PTI. If there was martial law, lawyers would not have appeared, visits would not have been made to prisons, nor would decisions have been awaited. Therefore, it is in the interest of both the oppressed and the rulers to give democracy a chance. The constitution of the world is that the most powerful class of the country is always dissatisfied with the country’s situation and its heart wants to take over the reins of the country with the power of its power. The government annoys the powerful class with its shortcomings and weaknesses and keeps giving them opportunities to complain, and on the other hand, the opposition keeps making plans to overthrow the weak government based on its own misconceptions, but it does not think that what will happen if the weak government falls? Their government will still not come, but a powerful martial law will come. On the third side, the powerful are not ready to think that this weak political government is acting as a cover for them, otherwise the opponents of Pakistan keep taunting it as a garrison state, security state and military state. If this cover is removed, their allegations will be proven correct, as if all the stakeholders of the state will have to act wisely and prudently in the most critical circumstances of the Trump era.
Nowadays, it is customary to declare everything unconstitutional, illegal, cruel and oppressive. It has also become common to say that such oppression is happening for the first time in history. It is forgotten how the state selectively and encircled the communists and even stopped their breathing, more than half of them went half-mad. Then the Jamaat-e-Islami faced a difficult time, the PPP leaders suffered whippings, imprisonments and hangings, the Noon also endured torture and captivity, the Tehreek-e-Insaf also faced a difficult time and it is still there, but they do not remember any incident of the past, they become heroes alone, which is tantamount to complete ignorance of the history of this country.
In recent days, an incident has made my ears prick up and I see the shadow of a demon hovering over even this weakest political government. A month ago, Chairman Senate Yousaf Raza Gilani issued production orders for Senator Ijaz Chaudhry as per parliamentary traditions and law, but it was not implemented. Now, by not presiding over the Senate session for a month, he is perhaps giving a silent protest or a clear signal to give democracy a chance and let the Parliament function according to its laws and traditions. Will his voice prove to be a voice in the desert? What message are we sending to the world that this Parliament and the Senate are helpless? Do we want to prove that someone else is actually running the government?
Consider me, the humble one, as a failed lover. Consider me as the lover of Laila, Qais or Majnu, the Ranjha of Heer, Mahinwal of Sohni, Mirza of Sahiban, Pannu of Sassi or Romeo of Juliet. Lovers are ready to fight and die for the love of their beloved, my beloved is democracy, be it weak or strong, be it a lame girl standing on artificial legs, be it a lock on her tongue or be it a mute, still she is my beloved. I hope that a day will definitely come when like the rest of the world, a strong democracy with freedom of the media, a strong parliament and human rights will come here too, therefore I expect the stakeholders of this weak democracy to follow the production order of Chairman Senate Yousaf Raza Gilani and not allow parliamentary traditions to be tarnished. Yousaf Raza Gilani, as Speaker of the National Assembly, had incurred the displeasure of the party by issuing the production order of Sheikh Rashid, had angered General Kayani and General Pasha by changing the Secretary of Defense, and had also criticized the increasing powers of the ruling party in the parliament. He also had to pay the penalty for these insults, his son was kidnapped, it is a separate matter that a noble general who came later played an important role in his son’s release. Gilani, like me, is a lover of the democratic goddess, disrespecting him would be tantamount to failing democracy.
Some of our businessmen and industrialists like martial law and the power of the ruler because their work gets done in a pinch, but they forget that the secret of the development of today’s world is sustainable democracy. The power of the ruler or martial law makes everything right for a while, but it is not sustainable. Ayub Khan’s model of economic development collapsed as soon as he left, General Musharraf’s enlightenment left as soon as he left, even if there are a hundred flaws in our system, they should be fixed through parliament. The other methods of intervention have proven wrong in the past and will prove wrong in the future as well. Democracy, like love, requires patience, but in today’s modern world, this is the system that guarantees prosperity, freedom and sustainability.
The powerful are the assets of every country. Democracy cannot exist without the powerful. If there is no peace and order, anarchy sets in, which eats away at democracy. The powerful are necessary to maintain democracy, but the powerful have to keep their most valuable assets hidden like a precious diamond, otherwise the evil eyes of the enemy world will fix on this diamond and it will become a target for the whole world. That is why the powerful give advice from behind the scenes all over the world. It would be better if this curtain is not drawn here too. The martial laws of the past also came on the claim that they would fix the system, but the system was not fixed, and the name of the powerful was disgraced. The method of reform is such legislation through the parliament that will end the red tape of bureaucracy. The stones in the path of prosperity and investment should be removed, the powerful and politicians should work together to formulate a plan of action to eliminate terrorism and establish peace and order. It is simple: just adopt the formula for prosperity, development, and freedom that the majority of the world has set. New experiences and indiscriminate interference will only lead us astray.
