Nawazi: What did you do? You pardoned the May 9 accused and those “habitual criminals” have started beating people up as soon as they were released. Things can’t work like this.
Shahbazi: This is the army’s decision. Most of the criminals had already served their sentences. They were supposed to be released by the civil courts anyway. Then they appealed for mercy and asked for forgiveness for their crimes.
Nawazi: The pardon decision and the release of dozens of PTI prisoners from civil courts are all part of the same scheme. Something is going on inside the house. PTI is benefiting while Noon is losing.
Shahbazi: This decision has been taken after looking at the domestic and international situation. We will have to act prudently. It is not appropriate to criticize this decision publicly. Such things are only said in internal meetings. It is not appropriate to raise such issues in the media.
Nawazi: Our politics has been destroyed, now attempts are being made to strike a deal with Imran Khan and the Tehreek-e-Insaf internally. If we don’t keep up the pressure, we will be left with nowhere.
Shahbazi: Be brave, PTI or Imran Khan will not get any concessions that would weaken our government or pave the way for their arrival. At most, they can get out of jail in exchange for accepting the system and the elections, and that too in exchange for silence and house arrest in Bani Gala.
Nawazi: We have obeyed everything the ruler has said since the election. We have suffered a lot from meeting the ruler. Our vote bank has decreased. Our popularity is still faltering. The ruler should also consult us in major political decisions. Shouldn’t we have been consulted about the release of criminal prisoners?
Shahbaz: Distance and alienation are more on your part. You neither meet the powerful nor do you bother to meet and consult with people close to the powerful. You have left the entire work to Shahbaz Sharif. He deals with the party, allies and the powerful alone, no one supports him.
Nawazi: We have cut off our hands and given them to you and the authorities. Maryam has participated in the launch of Udan. Permission has also been granted to expand the federal cabinet. We have put the entire Non-League on a plate and given them to you.
Shahbazi: There is no lack of obedience and loyalty on our part either. Till date, no political or administrative decision has been taken without your approval.
Nawazi: The release of the May 9 accused on the eve of the talks is a message to us that the ruling party can make peace with Imran Khan at any time. If that happens, where will we go? Our narrative has already been told, now the government will also be shaken.
Shahbazi: This is all your illusion, nothing like this is happening. Our party had earlier given the statements of understanding, our own speaker is also conducting the talks, but there has been no progress so far, why are you worried? There are very intelligent people in the ruling party. They know very well that if the PTI gets a break, it will neither leave us nor the current ruling party. The ruling party is not ready to trust the PTI and Imran Khan at all.
Nawazi: Look, our February 8 wounds have not even healed yet. The way Nawaz Sharif was ousted has torn our hearts. This is Nawaz Sharif’s pragmatism and realism, who made the best political decision and made Shahbaz Sharif the Prime Minister and his daughter Maryam the Chief Minister, and instead of losing everything, he gained a lot. Otherwise, if Nawaz Sharif had made the decision in anger, neither the ruling party nor the PML-N would have survived.
Shahbazi: You are right, there is no question about Nawaz Sharif’s intelligence and acumen, he is the most experienced politician in South Asia at the moment. He became the Prime Minister for the first time 34 years ago, when Modi had not even emerged on the political scene and many of today’s famous personalities were still in junior positions.
Nawazi: You are a good manager and you are very skilled in dealing with the powerful, but our leader’s vision is completely different from yours. He wants excellent relations with the army, but one of his philosophy is civilian supremacy. If the PTI had not been created, Pakistan would be a different state today.
Shahbazi: Pragmatism demands that we create our own place by becoming part of the hybrid system for the time being and restore the credibility of politics through good governance.
Nawazi: That is correct, but a hybrid system, constant compromises and compromises are not good for the state. No consultation is being done with Nawaz Sharif regarding foreign policy either. Nawaz Sharif has immense experience in Afghanistan, India and America, but he is not ready to take any guidance from them.
Shahbazi: Thanks to your kindness, the situation between the federation and Punjab has improved somewhat. Otherwise, Punjab had become a no-go area for the federation. With this division of ours, politicians, our allies, and those in power were getting the wrong signals, and our colleagues’ trust in us was rapidly decreasing.
Nawazi: We have full support for Shahbaz Sharif, but we cannot do politics forever by living in the shadow of the powerful. Political decisions should be in our hands. Not every political decision of the powerful is acceptable to us.
Shahbazi: Your opinion about the ruling party is linked to the past. The current ruling party is completely different from the past. We need to change our perspective. The current ruling party really wants to help us stabilize Pakistan economically and politically. At the moment, it is not interested in coming to power itself, that is why I support the current ruling party.
Nawazi: The past decisions of the ruling party have proven to be wrong, especially their decisions regarding politics are based on temporary trends. They had also carved the idol of Imran Khan. Our government was leading the country towards economic development, but suddenly General Raheel Sharif and then General Bajwa, with the help of judges, sent us home and sank the economy.
Shahbazi: The current ruling party recognizes that the previous ruling party made wrong decisions, which is why Pakistan is economically weak and politically divided. The current ruling party realizes that the idol of Imran was carved by their own institution and they are the only ones who can confront this idol. They are only correcting their own mistakes.
Nawazi: That’s fine, but the key to politics should be in our hands.
